As a brand that eats, breathes and sleeps running, Global Running Day is a pretty big deal here at Brooks. We believe a run makes every day better and helps us be our best selves, but that joy is even more powerful when we share it with others. This year we asked the run community to come together and Run It Forward. We chose our cause, you chose yours, and together we pledged our miles to bring joy to the community, show appreciation for the places we run, and connect with the people we love! We are excited to share that, together, we pledged over 15 thousand miles, with the majority of those miles dedicated to community, followed by love and then environment.
Here at Brooks HQ, we logged off our computers, laced up our shoes, and gathered together Wednesday afternoon, donning color-coded bibs to represent each individual’s chosen cause.
Here are the ways we activated in our neighborhood:
Community is something that is genuinely bigger than ourselves. To honor our local Seattle community, employees ran a food donation to a local food bank.
The environment running crew pulled on gloves, grabbed a trash bag, and plogged their way through the neighborhood, thanking Mother Nature by leaving the area cleaner than they found it. Unfamiliar with plogging? It is the latest fitness craze in Sweden and consists of picking up trash and litter as you jog – multi-tasking at its finest!
Because the love for running brings such joy, what better way to Run It Forward than to share the run with those around you? Individuals who opted to run for love were encouraged to pair up with a fellow employee they wanted to get to know better and spread the love of the run as they logged some miles together.
Thank you to those who joined us in our Run It Forward movement. Cheers to logging more #runhappy miles!
